NATO Launches Mediterranean Drills
NATO initiated Exercise Dynamic Mariner / Flotex 25, taking place from March 24 to April 4 in the western Mediterranean and Atlantic, including Spanish waters, as announced in a statement issued over the weekend.
For the first time, the Turkish Amphibious Task Force will take on the positions of Allied Reaction Force Commander Amphibious Task Force and Commander Landing Force starting in July.
The training involves 30 surface vessels, two submarines, aerial assets, as well as 1,500 marines and personnel from six NATO countries: France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.
This multinational maritime exercise is designed to enhance allied cooperation, boost operational readiness, and secure critical sea routes, with a particular focus on training the Spanish Navy while it gets ready to take over the NATO Allied Reaction Force Maritime element in July.
